Welcome to Barthe - French Gite Holiday, which offers
Lot Gite Holiday Rentals at Domaine de Barthe in the Lot region in the Aude South
of France. Domaine de Barthe is owned and run by Mark and Nicole Adams,
who have lived permanently at the site since February 2005 and are in
the process of sympathetically restoring the complete estate to create a
comfortable base from which you can explore the region. Since 2007, we
have 3 gites (self catering cottages) available and look forward to
being hosts for your holiday here.

Domaine de Barthe (pronounced Bar-ta) is an ancient wine domaine
situated in the Aude valley between the Corbiere and Minervois wine
regions. It is surrounded by vineyards, yet is only a kilometre from
the villages of Douzens and Blomac and 2km from the larger town of
Capendu with many amenities. The domaine is set in 2 hectares (4
acres) of it's own vines and is a few hundred metres from the river
Aude. Being only 50 kilometres (35 miles) from the sea, it is in a
true Mediterranean climate zone.

The Gites are set around an
attractive pebbled courtyard entered through an imposing ancient
gateway. Immediately in front are two attached gξtes which,
together, can accommodate up to 10 people (one gite has 3 bedrooms, the
other gite has 2 bedrooms). Next to these is the Lavoir (laundry room)
housing communal laundry facilities. To either side are ancient
barns, one housing a games room. A side gate from the courtyard
leads to a BBQ area and petanque court. Above the right hand barn is
a 3 bedroom apartment style gite which will be available for holidays from
July 2007.

Just beyond the courtyard side gate
is the secluded hanger (open barn) area where the BBQ and a
tranquil relaxation area are located. The 'covered' petanque court
is set out within the hanger, so you can enjoy the traditional
French pastime out of the summer heat!. The in-ground swimming pool
(new in 2007) is located within a secluded walled garden area a
short walk from the main courtyard.
RENTAL
RATES
Based on per Gite per week/7 nights
(pro rata for extra nights). Minimum stay is 7 nights in
HIGH and MID
seasons. Special rates are also available for long term low season
bookings (please ask for details).

For the 2007 season, we have 3 gites (self
catering holiday cottages) and a self catering apartment available
providing comfortable accommodation for between 2 - 16 people. The
cottages are semi-detached, being ideally suited to group or individual
holidays. Each cottage has it's own private patio area to the front
(within the courtyard), or this can be easily combined for group
holidays. In addition, guests will also be able to enjoy separate
communal areas for BBQ's, leisure and relaxation, including a 14m x 6m
(46ft x 20ft) swimming pool, which is new for 2007. Laundry facilities
are available within a separate 'Lavoir'. All kitchens are equipped with
a gas oven/hob, microwave cooker and fridge/freezer. All bed linen and
towels are provided for use within the gite ( please bring your own
beach/pool towels).
'LE MINERVOIS' COTTAGE This is a 3 bedroom gite, providing 90 sqm.
of comfortable accommodation for a maximum of 6 people. The ground floor
comprises an open plan kitchen, dining and living area. Leading off this
is a double bedroom. Upstairs are 2 further bedrooms (one double, the
other twin) and the bathroom with a shower/bath and a separate w.c.
'LA CORBIERE' COTTAGE This is a 2
bedroom gite, providing 75 sqm. of tasteful, rustic style accommodation
and is suitable for up to 4 people (possibly 5 if 2 adults with 3 small
children sharing a bedroom). The ground floor comprises an open plan
kitchen, dining and living area. Upstairs are 1 double and 1 twin
bedroom and the shower room with a separate w.c.
FITOU APARTMENT Our latest renovation project is a former vine
workers dormitory which will become a luxurious 3 bedroomed holiday
apartment. There will be a generous 100 square meters of accommodation
comprising a living/dining/kitchen area, a family bath/shower room with
a separate WC, a double bedroom with an ensuite shower room/ WC and 2
further twin bedrooms. Outside will be a private patio area and car
parking space.
The major construction work has been completed and the internal
refurbishment is now well underway. This apartment will be ready for the
2007 summer and we will shortly be taking bookings for holidays from
July 2007 onwards.
